If you are booking travel for October, you are working from FY2026 per diem rates with no FY2027 numbers in sight. GSA has published the new fiscal year's rates in mid-August three years running. This year it has not, and as of September 2 it is 18 days past its own pattern. This page tracks the release and will be updated the day it happens.

Why "Late" Is the Right Word: The Three-Year Pattern
GSA does not owe anyone a calendar date, but its own behavior has been consistent. The last three fiscal years' rates were announced and published on these dates:

Three straight cycles inside a one-day window, then silence. FedTools 2026 analysis of GSA's release history: September 2 is the longest gap between the mid-August pattern and an actual release in at least three years. We have not found a public GSA statement explaining the timing.
That does not mean anything is wrong. Rate-setting depends on lodging data from the prior fiscal year, and a review cycle can slip for ordinary reasons. It does mean travel offices that usually have six weeks to load new tables into their systems now have four, and shrinking.
What You Are Reimbursed Today: FY2026 Rates
Until FY2027 rates are effective, every CONUS trip is settled under FTR Bulletin 26-01:
- Standard CONUS lodging: $110 per night
- Standard CONUS M&IE: $68 per day, with $51 on the first and last travel day (75%)
- Non-standard areas: roughly 296 locations with higher lodging caps, many of them seasonal, and M&IE tiers from $68 to $92
GSA held these flat from FY2025, the first time in recent years it did not raise the standard rate, citing "reduction from the historically high inflationary pressures seen during the previous administration." FY2025 had been the bigger move: lodging from $107 to $110 and M&IE from $59 to $68, the first M&IE increase since FY2022.

FY2027 Per Diem Rates: Up, Flat, or Down? What the Record Says
GSA has not signaled a direction, and this page does not guess. The record:

Third-party per diem sites have floated FY2027 lodging guesses in the $115 to $120 range with M&IE at $70 to $72. Those are not GSA figures, and FedTools does not publish them as projections. If GSA raises rates, the FY2025-style pattern (lodging and M&IE together) is the most recent precedent. If it holds flat again, FY2026 is the precedent. Both are on the table until the bulletin drops.
Military TDY Runs on the Same Clock
Service members and DoD civilians traveling inside the continental United States are reimbursed at GSA's CONUS rates. The Joint Travel Regulations adopt them directly; DoD sets its own rates only for Alaska, Hawaii, the territories, and overseas, through the Per Diem, Travel and Transportation Allowance Committee, with the State Department covering foreign locations.
So a late FY2027 release lands on October TDY orders, PCS-related temporary lodging math, and reserve component travel the same way it lands on a civilian agency's travel card. If you are cutting orders for October now, they will be settled at whatever CONUS rate is in force on the travel dates, and a mid-trip rate change is applied from its effective date forward.
What to Do While You Wait
- Book October lodging at the FY2026 cap for now. If FY2027 raises the cap, your voucher is settled at the rate in force on each travel date, so an October 5 night at a $115 cap is reimbursed at $115 even if you booked it under $110 rules.
- Do not hold travel waiting for new rates. There is no recent precedent for FY2027 rates failing to publish before October 1, and no mechanism that would pay you retroactively for August travel at October rates.
- Check your agency's travel system, not just GSA. Concur, DTS, and E2 load the new tables on their own schedules after GSA publishes. The first week of a new fiscal year often runs on stale tables.

No. As of September 2, 2026, GSA's per diem lookup still lists 2026 as the current fiscal year with no 2027 option, and no FY2027 rule has appeared in the Federal Register. FY2027 runs October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027. This page will be updated the day GSA publishes.

Any voucher for October travel would be settled at whatever rate is in force on the travel dates.
Do the GSA per diem rates apply to military members on TDY?
For travel inside the continental United States, yes. The Joint Travel Regulations adopt GSA's CONUS per diem rates for uniformed service members and DoD civilians, so a late FY2027 release affects military TDY orders the same way it affects civilian agencies. Outside CONUS rates come from the State Department and DoD, not GSA.
