TRICARE 2027 costs are now posted on tricare.mil, two days before open season opens on November 9. Retiree enrollment fees rise about 3.7%, TRICARE Young Adult Prime jumps 12.5% to $893 a month, and pharmacy copays stay at 2026 rates. Here is every 2027 fee, deductible, cap and premium next to its 2026 figure.

Which TRICARE 2027 Costs Apply to You: Group A or Group B

Your costs depend on your beneficiary category and your group. Both are set by when the sponsor first joined.

  • Group A: the sponsor's initial enlistment or appointment began before January 1, 2018.
  • Group B: it began on or after January 1, 2018.

The premium plans (TRICARE Reserve Select, TRICARE Retired Reserve and TRICARE Young Adult) follow Group B cost rules for deductibles and copays, whatever the sponsor's group. Only their premiums are set separately.

The TRICARE page lists two exceptions:

  • The Prime Group A fee is waived if you are under 65 and have Medicare Part A and Part B.
  • Select Group A is $0 for medically retired sponsors, their families and survivors.

The Group B premium over Group A is now $84 a year for an individual on Prime and $423 a year on Select. A Group B retiree family on Select pays $845.04 more than a Group A family for the same plan.

Retiree Deductibles and Catastrophic Caps for 2027

Prime has no deductible. Select does, and the Group B deductible rises again.

Item 2026 2027
Select Group A deductible $150 individual / $300 family $150 / $300 (no change)
Select Group B deductible, network $198 / $397 $205 / $411
Select Group B deductible, non-network $397 / $794 $411 / $823
Catastrophic cap, Prime Group A $3,000 $3,000 (no change)
Catastrophic cap, Select Group A $4,381 $4,538
Catastrophic cap, Group B (Prime and Select) $4,635 $4,802

The catastrophic cap is the yearly limit on what a family pays out of pocket for covered services. Select Group A keeps a $3,000 cap for medically retired sponsors, their families and survivors.

Retiree Copays: The Visits You Pay For

Most network copays rise by a dollar to five dollars. The table covers the visits retirees use most.

Network visit Prime (A and B) Select Group A Select Group B
Primary care $26 → $27 $38 → $40 $33 → $34
Specialty care $39 → $41 $52 → $52 $52 → $54
Urgent care $39 → $41 $38 → $40 $52 → $54
Emergency room $79 → $82 $138 → $143 $105 → $109

Prime inpatient admissions go from $198 to $205 per admission. Select Group B inpatient admissions go from $231 to $240. Preventive care stays $0 in every plan.

Active Duty Family Members: Group A Unchanged

Active duty service members pay nothing. Family members on Prime still pay $0 in enrollment fees and deductibles.

On Select, Group A family members see no change for 2027: a $50 / $100 deductible for sponsors in E-1 to E-4, $150 / $300 for E-5 and above, and a $1,000 catastrophic cap.

Group B family members on Select pay a little more:

Group B, Select 2026 2027
Deductible, E-1 to E-4 $66 individual / $132 family $68 / $137
Deductible, E-5 and above $198 / $397 $205 / $411
Catastrophic cap (Prime and Select) $1,324 $1,372

TRICARE Young Adult Premiums 2027: The Biggest Jump

The premium plans rose the most. These are monthly premiums.

Premium plan 2026 2027 Change
TRICARE Young Adult-Prime $794.00 $893.00 +$99.00 (+12.5%)
TRICARE Young Adult-Select $363.00 $394.00 +$31.00 (+8.5%)
TRICARE Retired Reserve, member only $645.90 $707.59 +$61.69 (+9.6%)
TRICARE Retired Reserve, member and family $1,548.30 $1,697.70 +$149.40 (+9.6%)
TRICARE Reserve Select, member only $57.88 $60.54 +$2.66 (+4.6%)
TRICARE Reserve Select, member and family $286.66 $307.48 +$20.82 (+7.3%)

Sources: tricare.mil Health Plan Costs (calendar year 2027), TRICARE Newsroom 2026 Table 5. Annual figures are the monthly premium x 12.

Over a full year, TRICARE Young Adult-Prime costs $10,716 in 2027 and Young Adult-Select costs $4,728. That gap is $5,988 a year for the same young adult.

TYA covers adult children who have aged out of regular TRICARE and are under 26. Deductibles and caps follow the sponsor's status:

  • Active duty or Reserve Select sponsor: Young Adult-Select deductible is $68 for E-1 to E-4 and $205 for E-5 and above, with a $1,372 cap.
  • Retired or Retired Reserve sponsor: Young Adult-Select deductible is $205 network and $411 non-network, with a $4,802 cap.

If your adult child is healthy and lives near network doctors, Select at $394 a month is the cheaper door. Prime makes sense mainly when the child needs regular specialty care and lives inside a Prime service area. Compare it against the child's own job-based plan, or a parent's FEHB Self and Family plan if you are also a federal employee.

TRICARE Retired Reserve covers gray-area reservists until 60. Our TRICARE Retired Reserve cost breakdown walks through the 2026 math against civilian plans; at $1,697.70 a month, family coverage now runs $20,372.40 for 2027.

What Is Not Going Up in 2027

Pharmacy copays are frozen. DHA's calendar year 2027 notice in the Federal Register (91 FR 59115, September 18, 2026) keeps 2026 rates: $16 generic, $48 brand-name and $85 non-formulary for a 30-day retail network fill, and $14, $44 and $85 for a 90-day mail-order fill.

Active duty family members in Group A also see no change in fees, deductibles or caps from 2026.

What to Do Before Open Season Closes December 8

Open season runs November 9 to December 8, 2026. It covers TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select. Any change you make takes effect January 1, 2027.

  1. Find your group. Check your sponsor's first enlistment or appointment date against January 1, 2018.
  2. Add up a year. Take the 2027 enrollment fee, then add the copays for the visits you actually expect. Prime costs more up front; Select costs more per visit.
  3. Check the Young Adult choice separately. Open season covers Prime and Select only; it does not apply to TRICARE Young Adult, Reserve Select or Retired Reserve, which follow their own purchase rules. TYA-Prime costs $5,988 more a year than TYA-Select in 2027, so compare the two at the new prices.
  4. Read the switch rules. Our TRICARE Open Season 2027 guide covers the dates, the Prime-to-Select mechanics and what happens if you miss the window.
